Распоряжением Правительства Ульяновской области церковь Михаила Архангела в селе Русский Юрткуль Старомайнского района включена в реестр как объект культурного значения регионального значения.
Каменная трехпрестольная церковь построена в 1869 году на средства прихожан. Главный престол во имя Архистратига Божия Михаила, правый придел — в честь Преображения Господня, левый — во имя Казанской иконы Божьей Матери. Церковь была закрыта в 1930 году, в советский период времени здание использовалось под склад одним из местных колхозов.
Сейчас здание не имеет собственника, на балансе организации не значится, сообщил руководитель Управления государственной охраны объектов культурного наследия Ульяновской области Шарпудин Хаутиев. Ведомство направило обращение в администрацию Старомайнского района для принятия мер по постановке на учёт как бесхозяйного объекта в соотвествии со ст. 225 ГК РФ.
